You Light Up My Life and Mathis Magic are the albums by American legendary singer Johnny Mathis that was released by Columbia Records. The release made its first appearance on Billboard magazine’s Top LP’s & Tapes chart in the issue in 1978, and remained there for 24 weeks, peaking at Number 9. The single from the album, “Too Much, Too Little, Too Late”, had its chart debut on Billboard magazine’s list of the 100 most popular R&B singles in the US, where it lasted for 20 weeks, four of which were spent at number one.
The single also reached one on the popular Easy Listening records chart in the US and the Billboard Hot 100. Leo Reisman & his Orchestra’s recording of Night and Day with Fred Astaire on vocal spent 10 weeks at number one in Billboard magazine in 1933. Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” first appeared on his 1976 album Turnstiles, whilst “She Believes in Me” by Kenny Rogers received Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America after reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending two weeks at Number One on the magazine’s Adult Contemporary and Country charts.
